Acknowledging strengths

This month’s coaching and mentoring community of practice workshop commenced with a debrief of the myPOTENTIAL strengths worksheet and process. Identifying strengths can sometimes be challenging for coaches, and communicating strengths to others often brings up internal barriers such as fear and anxiety. As coaches, one of our fundamental purposes is to support our clients to identify, acknowledge, communicate and act on their personal strengths and feel okay with the strengths they have and how they manifest. All to often, people feel that they should disown their strengths, that they are not worthy of them and do not deserve the rewards that the utilisation of such strengths might bring.

Following the discussion of strengths, coaches broke up into coaching trios to observe, coach and be coached and then brought their insights back to the group in terms of coaching competencies, and success strategies.
