This strategic planning workshop was conducted for the Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Applied Sport Science Research, Queensland Academy of Sport. The goals for the meeting were to: discuss the CoE’s strategic vision, provide an analysis of its medium-to-long-term strategic options and consider processes and procedures for strengthening the CoE’s operations towards its vision; gain input from the CoE’s internal and external stakeholders to guide the development of a Strategic Plan for the CoE “towards 2020” and evaluate the CoE’s charter, objectives and goals; further enhance relationships of the CoE to other parts of the QAS, to the QAS Board, to Universities, to other research agencies and to sport organisations.
The board members for this strategic planning meeting was comprised of representatives from a variety of areas and industries, including Wayne Bennet (NRL), Professors from UQ, USQ and Griffith University, Senior Partners from BDO Kendalls, the Queensland Academy of Sport, the Australian Institute of Sport. All had a long history with the CoE and were keen to support the Centre to develop a strong strategic vision for the next five years.
